Ribbon Cutting/Opening Ceremony of the New Construction will be held at the new main school office entrance at 4:30pm this Thursday, August 20th.

Our Pre-K will be hosting their Open House today from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm. We are excited to see our future Vikings!!!

Our administration and custodians were honored to “Fill the Fridges” today to welcome all of our summer staff back! 🥤❤️💛⚔️

Our teachers, paraprofessionals, bus drivers, cooks, nurses, SROs, and secretaries pour out so much of their heart, soul, and love to support our students every day. We are truly grateful for each of you!

We hope the sodas, waters, and drinks help fill, hydrate, and welcome everyone back tomorrow as you prepare for another incredible school year!

Any students new to the district in grades PK-6th grade may register starting next week as we will have open registration from Tuesday, August 4th through Friday, August 7th from 8:00 am-3:00 pm. * Any Incoming 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th student interested in playing winter basketball should attend with parent/guardians

Valley R-VI is honored to announce the hiring of Steve McFarland as Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach. Coach McFarland comes to Valley with extensive experience as a high school basketball coach and educator. His career has spanned over four decades, amassing over 500 wins.

Coaching Career & History

Early Stops: McFarland began coaching in 1979. He started in Parma, in southeast Missouri, before taking over the boys' basketball program at Potosi High School from 1981 to 1995. [1]

Farmington High School: He then moved to Farmington, where he built the girls' program into a powerhouse. During his 19-year tenure, he compiled a record of 256-94 and consistently led the Knightettes on deep playoff runs. Under his leadership, the team finished 2nd in Class 4 in 2007 and 4th in 2011.

Festus High School: After initially retiring in 2014, McFarland returned to the sidelines in October 2019 to take over the girls' basketball program at Festus High School. He eventually stepped down prior to the 2023–2024 season.
Honors and Legacy

In March 2024, McFarland was officially inducted into the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) Hall of Fame for his decades of service, dedication to the game, and exceptional win-loss record.

He remains a highly respected figure in Missouri athletics, known for running competitive, fundamentally sound basketball programs.
