A Message from Our Principal

Welcome back!

Once again the summer has flown by and we are beginning a new school year. I am so excited to embark with you on the next journey of my educational career!

As principal, one of my main focuses will be to ensure the students have a successful learning environment to help them excel. We will be focusing on increasing student achievement to help our students be successful in their classrooms but also, to become life-long learners and to be successful in their future endeavors.

Everyone is working towards a common goal of student achievement with the same structure. The staff and I are working hard to prepare our students for the challenges of tomorrow. At Valley R-VI, we want to develop our students into upstanding citizens who will be successful in all aspects of their post-secondary careers.

I would like to wish all students, parents, and staff the best of luck in the new school year!

Our Program

Valley Junior and Senior High’s curriculum aligns with the Missouri Learning Standards to prepare our students for college and career. To help our students create a successful school experience tailored to their needs, all students at Valley enroll in an advisory period and link with an advisor to help them get the most out of their high school experience and make long term plans for college and/or career.

We are dedicated to ensuring our students are equipped to meet the challenges they will face tomorrow! For our students who desire a more rigorous class lineup, we offer AP and honors classes. Students who wish to jump-start college (and earn both high school and college credit at the same time) will enjoy our dual credit course offerings. And those who want a more in-depth look at specific careers will have the opportunity to join our work-study program or develop skills in career education.

Earn Dual Credit with Mineral Area College

Valley High School offers courses that allow students to earn high school and college credit at the same time! Utilizing our partnership with Mineral Area College, students can enroll to receive English composition, literature, and public speaking credits before they leave high school! All courses are taught on campus during regular school hours and are administrated by our high school staff.

Requirements
To be eligible, students must:

  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Have a GPA of 7.0 or higher (3.0 on a 4-point scale)
  • Have earned an 18 or higher on the English portion of their ACT

Accounting Credit
For every three hours of college credit successfully completed, our students will earn one high school credit towards graduation. Each participating student is responsible for submitting a final grade transcript to his or her counselor for this credit to be applied. We weight all dual enrollment courses +3 points towards our students’ GPA.

Fees
Students are responsible for all costs associated with enrolling in Mineral Area College courses. However, Valley R-VI School District will reimburse half the tuition costs of each course that is completed with a C grade or higher.

Career Education

Arcadia Valley Career Technical Center has partnered with us to provide students with access to vocational skills in computer networking, auto mechanics and repair, health, business, graphic design, welding, agriculture, and maintenance. Career Tech students spend half their day at Valley High School in regular education classes and the other half at AVCTC developing vocational skills to use after high school. Valley R-VI School District provides all transportation for students attending AVCTC.
